What We Teach

The HighScope Curriculum addresses children development with six main curriculum content areas:

1. Approaches to Learning
2. Social and Emotional Development
3. Physical Development and Health
4. Communication, Language, and Literacy
5. Cognitive Development
6. Creative Arts
7. Science and Technology
8. Social Studies

Within these areas are 42 Key Developmental Indicators (KDIs). Each KDI is a statement that identifies an observable behavior reflecting a child’s knowledge and skills in these six areas.
